Astralium sp. - Star Shell / Turban Snail
Astralium sp. belongs to the family Turbinidae, the Turban snails. The shells of this snail family can be spherical, circular, smooth, or highly sculptured. The inner side of the shells is made of nacre, and they have a calcareous operculum.
The snail is a good algae eater, consuming both filamentous and mat algae, as well as microscopic organisms.
