You will get exactly the coral depicted on the photo.

General information on Tubastrea Azoo-Corals:

  • Scientific:
    Tubastraea faulkneri
  • Common: Sun Coral
  • Origin:
Australia, Fiji, French Poynesia, Guam, Indo-Pacific, Japan, Madagascar, Malaysia, Maldives, Marschall-Islands, Mauritius, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Philippines, Red Sea, Seychelles, Singapur, Solomon Islands
  • Size:
    up to 15 cm
  • Temperature:
    75.2 °F - 80.6 °F (24°C - 27°C)
  • Feeding:
needs to be fed with several kinds of frozen food - directly to the polyps
  • Tank:
    ~ 150 Liter

Tubastraea and Dendrophyllia both belong to the Dendropyhllidae family.

Tubastrea corals have no zooxanthellae and do not live from light. Thus they can be placed in a dark location. However, tubastreas have to be fed regularly, then they are quite durable.

They also like a laminar, light current that drives the food past them.

Food tip:
We recommend to feed thawed frost food like mysis or pellets with the Fauna Marin ReefBuster or a long tweezer directly on the polyps. Best early in the morning or evening when the polyps are visible.
